Hi, I’m Jed, and I’m running for President

About Me
I started on the Adult Returners programme a year ago and now study Community Involvement. My success is due to passionate and supportive lecturers, but management’s administrative barriers threaten that progress. With college funding cut by 20% since 2021, we need a President who knows that education is a lifeline. Having overcome homelessness and after several years in recovery, I have the grit and determination to hold management and the Scottish Government accountable and ensure support is provided to every student who needs it.
Vote Jed Miller for a President who knows the stakes and will never back down.
My Priorities
01
Support for every student who needs it, no matter their course
I will ensure that any student who needs support receives it based on their individual needs, regardless of their course classification. By holding the college accountable to its legal duties under the Equality Act 2010, I will protect every student from falling through the cracks, ensuring that academic success at Edinburgh College is determined by their ability, not administrative luck.
02
Your voice against cuts to student services
I will use the position of President to lobby the Scottish Government to reverse the 20% real terms cut to college funding seen since 2021. By fighting this national neglect, I am protecting the quality of education for every student at Edinburgh College, preventing the larger class sizes and staff reductions that threaten the value of our qualifications.
03
Protecting pathways into education
I will lobby the college to retain, expand, and actively publicise Routes into Education and Employment courses such as Adult Returners and Working with Communities. Protecting these foundational pathways into education ensures a diverse, vibrant student population and keeps the bridge to education open for everyone in Edinburgh, enriching the learning environment for every student on campus.
